Texas got a chance to celebrate its Third straight State Farm Lone Star Showdown series victory Saturday night in front of 84,000 raucous fans.

The 2006-2007 school year witnessed the closest Showdown series in the 3 year history. The title came down to the final few events as the 'Horns outlasted the Aggies, 10.5 to 8.5.

On the field to accept the winner’s trophy from Angela Ward, from State Farm Texas Marketing Manager, were two student-athletes.

Representing the Women’s Tennis team is Courtney Zauft. Courtney was a part of a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Texas A&M last spring that kept Texas in the lead in the series.

And representing the baseball team is Kyle Russell. Kyle hit a home run and drove in three runs in the series sweep over the Aggies helping clinch the out right State Farm Lone Star Showdown Trophy for the Longhorns.

The first event in this year's State Farm Lone Star Showdown is Volleyball on October 3rd in College Station at G. Rollie White.
